Play for equality

A project for physical education teachers, which is intended to help children and youth affected by the war to adapt to normal life through sports.

Context

Because of the war in Ukraine, many issues took a back seat, including sports. Playing sports is the basis of a healthy nation. That is why the UEFA Foundation and the Klitschko Foundation created a project intended to change this situation: to motivate school youth to play sports.

Mission

Introduce sports sections for children in the regions to help them adapt to normal life through sports.

Program

At the project, participants will be able to:

  • learn about the issues of gender equality in sports;
  • meet famous athletes;
  • participate in trainings and lectures on current topics several times a week;
  • learn to create teams and implement own projects;
  • create your own football section;
  • get sports equipment for sections in their schools.

Who are the project participants?

Teachers from all over Ukraine can become participants in the educational part of the project, because it will take place in an online format. However, teachers from Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Zakarpattia, Rivne and Volhynia regions will be able to take part in the practical part. Such rules are introduced for the safety of participants and teams. After the victory, teachers from all over Ukraine will be able to take the practical part.

Selection criteria

Format

The project consists of 2 parts: educational and practical.

Education: includes digital training on our Impactum platform and via Zoom.

Practical: consists in carrying out a local project. The participants hold football competitions for school students and training for one of the proposed topics. The 20 schools that best hold the local project will receive a set of sports equipment to create a sports section for children in their school. Inventory will be provided in sufficient quantity to support the operation of the section for a minimum of three months. This is a prerequisite for the successful completion of the project. Participants will receive more detailed conditions, criteria for selecting the best local projects and advice on training during the training.

July 21 - August 11: submission of questionnaires for the project;

August 15: publication of the list of project participants;

August 18 - September 14: online training;

September 14 - 30: implementation of local projects;
