We are pleased to announce that the recruitment of participants for the Democracy Hub project is open! Now you have a chance to join the changelings!
Democracy Hub is an online project aimed at developing a community of proactive youth. The project is implemented in partnership with Crossing Borders with funding from CISU.
As part of the project, you will take part in one of three online trainings of your choice, which will make you a pro at solving social problems and building dialogue in the public sphere.
To you, if you want:
- learn more about democracy and human rights;
- develop leadership skills;
- learn about opportunities for self-development in state and public initiatives;
- create projects in your community;
- join the proactive like-minded people and the Klitschko Foundation community.
The project involves participation in one of three elective trainings, a debate tournament and an online course. Now every teenager aged 14-18 can register for one of the three trainings.
What are our trainings about?
“Youth Leadership”:
Main topics:
- what is leadership, levels of development of the group and the tasks of the leader, global leadership, myths and ways to acquire the necessary skills;
- emotional intelligence: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, social skills;
- a brief history of democracy, key moments in history, signs of totalitarianism and democracy;
- implementation of projects in their communities, leadership in practice, exchange of experience;
- how to create reforms and how Ukraine can move from industrialism to post-industrialism;
- Sustainable development goals, their implementation in their communities.
Debate & Public Speaking:
Main topics:
- basics of self-presentation, how to understand your audience, ways to master the skills of public speaking;
- techniques for building confidence, how to stop comparing yourself with others;
- structure of speech, work with the audience, building the structure of their own speech;
- how debates, negotiations, arguments, counter-arguments and analysis, constructive criticism are conducted;
- work with errors, how to provide and receive feedback;
- the impact of public speaking on students;
- planning group processes: how to work in a team and achieve impressive results.
Active Citizenship:
Topics:
- goal setting, the importance of teamwork and cooperation in achieving goals, leadership and ability to work in a team;
- the role of democratic values in transformational leadership, leadership theories, how democratic values can change the country;
- involving residents of their communities in solving problems, finding opportunities and implementing change;
- strategic role of projects, how to plan and implement projects in their communities;
- search for finances and resources for the implementation of projects: grants, fundraising, crowdfunding. How to create a successful crowdfunding campaign, where to look for grants and how to fill out grant applications.
- factors of community influence on local authorities, bottom-up changes, implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals of their communities.
Timeline:
March 31 - April 14 - registration of participants
April 19 - 25 - Youth Leadership training
May 5 - 11 - Debate & Public Speaking training
May 12 - 18 - Active Citizenship training
We are looking for participants who will meet the following criteria:
- is a teenager (14-18 years);
- live on the territory of Ukraine;
- fill in the questionnaire 100%;
- will be motivated to participate in the project;
- speak English at the level of B1 / B2. It is not necessary to have a certificate confirming the level of knowledge.
