Let's spread the virus of solidarity!

We are in a very special state now, and special times require special appeals and personal appeals.

As you already know, I really like challenges. They allow you to go beyond your own limits and help you live life to the fullest. However, some challenges are much greater than others. The COVID-19 virus is an incredible and enormous challenge for us, our governments, health systems, the economy and humanity as a whole. It is time to take this challenge together and make a contribution.

One of the key steps is hand washing. But we must also clear our minds. You don't have to be an optimist or a pessimist - you have to be a realist. You should not panic or take this situation for granted. Instead, we must remain objective and therefore ready to act.

What should you focus on?

Now we have to focus on the most important thing - the protection and preservation of lives. Older people and people with pre-existing illnesses are at greater risk of getting sick. Don't be fooled: anyone can get the virus, carry it and spread it. We cannot be careless or selfish.

What should we do now?

We still do not have all the facts, information continues to flow, and the situation is constantly changing. Scientists are working hard to get new data, develop treatments and vaccines. Experts teach us the right behavior in this situation. Ignorance will not help us plan further actions, but knowledge is a force.

According to experts, the safest and most correct way is to fight the virus and slow down its spread. We are all asked to be flexible, to adapt as much as possible to such a life, to avoid direct contact with people on the street. Our compliance with and respect for these new rules is extremely important.

Our freedom will be limited. Our home should be a place to replace everything else: restaurants, offices, schools and gyms… These restrictions will be severe, but will only work if we have coherence, when we come together and decide who can take care of the children, help to our neighbors who need it. This help should not be great. Any solution to the problem consists of small steps.

It does not matter who we are, because only together can we overcome this challenge by showing responsibility and solidarity. We need to support the people who are fighting the virus: doctors, health workers, civil servants and law enforcement. Let's help those who help us.

The truth is that we know little (yet). This is what significantly distinguishes the current state from the usual wave of influenza, which we face from year to year. At this time, we do not know how long our daily lives will be limited. We hope that not a few years, but a couple of weeks for sure, and maybe even a few months - who knows.

We must be patient and persistent. We need to change our habits and lifestyle. We must always remember the importance of the new rules and follow them, even if they last longer than we expect. Let us not lose faith, let us be patient. Let us find strength in unity.

Accepting this challenge - I am sure we will do it together - we will learn to act in such situations.

Friends, in the current situation, every detail is important: every gesture, every day and every person - everything is crucial.

Let's take this challenge together. Our common willpower is greater than this virus! Together we have the strength!
